The making of the Fabergé x Game of Thrones Egg
A new short film takes us through the process of designing a very special Fabergé Egg inspired by the hit television series. This iconic creation is a perfect showcase for an exceptional Gemfields Mozambican ruby.
An inspired collaboration between Fabergé and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the Fabergé x Game of Thrones Egg was conceived as a way of paying homage to the extraordinary, long-running success of the series. It was co-designed by Fabergé’s designer, Liisa Tallgren and Michele Clapton, the award-winning costume-designer from GoT. Only the finest materials were used to bring the show’s fantastical appeal to life.
The egg’s inside shell features pear-shaped and marquise-cut rubies, set in a castle style, and surrounded by pink sapphires and white diamonds. At its centre is the crown jewel, quite literally: a 4-carat, pear-shaped Gemfields Mozambican ruby sitting within a black rhodium-plated 18k white gold crown. This is the central ‘surprise’ that is the trademark of all Fabergé Eggs. It was conceptualised by Clapton as a miniature version of the crown she would have created for Daenerys had she succeeded to the Iron Throne.
The new short film follows Fabergé Workmaster Paul Jones and his team of craftspeople as they embark on the intricate process of bringing the Fabergé x Game of Thrones fantasy to life, immortalised in a new Egg of the finest quality.
