MRM extends maternity leave to six months

MRM has extended its maternity leave to 180 days, reinforcing its commitment to employee well-being and gender inclusion.

This new policy supports mothers, encourages exclusive breastfeeding, and promotes a more inclusive mining industry.

The updated policy doubles the legally mandated leave period, allowing new mothers six months of paid time off—90 days covered by the National Institute of Social Security and the remaining 90 days by MRM. Additional benefits include exemption from night shifts, overtime, or relocation from the third trimester until one year post-return, as well as access to a private lactation room at the clinic.

MRM’s extended maternity leave entitlement represents a significant step forward in eliminating barriers that have limited women from pursuing a career in the mining sector.

The policy also enables new talent to enter the workforce, as maternity leave replacements will be filled by entry-level individuals offering them valuable field experience.
