MRM boosts poultry farming in Namanhumbir
MRM has expanded its livestock support programme with three new poultry farming groups in Chimoio, Nanhupo B and Nseue. The new groups comprise a total of 31 members – 23 women and eight men; making the total number of associations supported by MRM eight, benefitting 82 members – 70 women and 12 men.
These initiatives are predominantly led by women, reinforcing MRM’s commitment to promoting inclusion and women’s empowerment within local communities.
MRM also supported the rehabilitation of two poultry houses in Nanune and Namanhumbir, which had been affected by vandalism incidents recorded in December 2024.
As part of efforts to ensure the viability of these associations, MRM acts as the main buyer of community production but also organises agricultural fairs in collaboration with local communities, aiming to ensure business sustainability and reduce long-term dependency on the company.
