Sandy Leong and Gemfields host a private event to raise funds for the Gemfields Foundation
On Sunday 30 May Sandy Leong and Gemfields hosted a gallery exhibition and cocktail reception at Exhibition The Barn by Elena Frampton (gallery host, interior designer and curator), at Bridgehampton, New York, in support of the Gemfields Foundation.
The event featured works by artist Nicholas Evans alongside the Sandy Leong x Gemfields Sol collection with proceeds from sales of both benefitting Gemfields’ newly launched charitable arm.
Guests sipped chilled, sustainably sourced, Out East French Rosé as they heralded the start of the season in a somewhat less summery Hamptons than expected.
The event follows the global launch of the Sandy Leong x Gemfields Sol collection in March, with further activity to follow later this year.
The collection represents a first-of-its-kind partnership between Sandy Leong Jewelry and Gemfields Foundation which supports community and conservation projects in Africa.
With overhead costs borne by Gemfields, 100% of funds received go to the projects and can get straight to work.
As Sandy Leong’s philanthropic areas of focus are educating children and enabling women to enter the workforce, the proceeds generated will contribute to two active Foundation projects: the construction of a primary school in Madagascar and the creation of a vocational training centre in Zambia.
“Gemfields is delighted to partner with Sandy Leong, whose business has placed sustainability at its very core since inception. This like-minded approach to responsible business practices, coupled with a shared love of emeralds makes Sandy Leong a perfect partner and we’re so thankful for the support to our newly formed Gemfields Foundation,” said Emily Dungey, Managing Director, Gemfields Foundation.
Prices for the 18-piece Sol collection, which launched on World Water Day on March 22, 2021, range from USD 1,700 for delicate stack rings, to USD 26,000 for bold emerald and diamond pave statement pieces including earrings, cocktail rings, and a sculptural cuff.
