New Sandy Leong x Gemfields capsule collection launching for Spring
New York-based, free-spirited fine jewellery designer Sandy Leong has launched an exquisite range of pieces featuring Gemfields Zambian emeralds and Mozambican rubies.
Each piece uses responsibly sourced coloured gemstones or conflict-free diamonds, set in recycled 18k gold – in line with Leong’s longstanding commitment to sustainability – with some profits circling back to host countries through the Gemfields Foundation.
A native of the rugged Pacific Northwest, Leong draws on the dramatic landscapes she has witnessed on her travels as inspiration for her jewellery designs. She has a special love of Africa, which is reflected in the new eight-piece collection – which includes a pearl and ruby pendant that can be customised on a choker or chain; baguette huggie ear hoops studded with rubies or emeralds; an emerald twist cocktail ring; and chunky gold bangles with coloured gemstone detailing.
The rubies in the collection come from Gemfields’ Montepuez mine in Mozambique, and the emeralds from the Kagem mine in Zambia. Gemfields is a world-leading miner of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones. This is the latest in a series of collaborations between Gemfields and Sandy Leong, who are natural partners with shared values.
The new designs were unveiled to select press and clients at an exclusive, two-day trunk show at the Bloomingdale’s flagship in Manhattan. They are available to buy exclusively at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street and will soon be sold online. Leong is donating 10% of proceeds to the Gemfields Foundation – the charitable arm of Gemfields supporting conservation work in Africa.
