Gemfields and Eshli Fine Jewelry celebrate responsibly mined emeralds
New jewellery pieces by Eshli Fine Jewelry x Gemfields demonstrate a shared passion for Zambian emeralds and a commitment to responsible mining practices.
Based in New York, Eshli crafts beautiful jewellery at three price points, using mine-to-market emeralds sourced from the Kagem mine in Zambia, majority-owned by Gemfields. Some of the most exceptional emeralds have come from Kagem, and these sit beautifully in Eshli’s ‘Fashionable’, ‘Fine Jewelry’ and ‘High End’ ranges.
Zambian emeralds are amongst the oldest on Earth, dating back some 500 million years. They are noted for their intense green colour, owing to the presence of chromium, iron and beryllium in their crystal structure and are often lacking in vanadium.
“This partnership [with Gemfields] allows us to offer our customers emeralds with a vibrant green hue and remarkable clarity, making each piece a true work of art,” says Liran Eshed.
Emily Dungey, Gemfields’ Marketing and Communications Director, adds: “Eshli not only has an exceptional eye for fine gems, it also boasts a creative flair that brings each to life. Carefully chosen cuts add sparkle and depth, and the verdant greens simply sing.”
Amongst the treasures from the ongoing Eshli Fine Jewelry x Gemfields collaboration are the stylish Emerald Open Shank Ring from the most affordable ‘Fashionable’ collection; the classic Pear Shape Emerald and Diamond Drop Earrings from the mid-level ‘Fine Jewelry’ range; and the striking Art Deco Style Emerald Ring to Cushion Emerald Drop Earrings from the top-tier ‘High End’ selection.
At every level, the quality and integrity of the emeralds from Kagem shines through. A family business spanning three generations, Eshli takes pride in working with natural gemstones – in particular, emeralds – and adhering to responsible practices. For its part, Kagem strives to set a benchmark in the industry, aiming to ensure that coloured gemstones bring benefit to local communities.
