How would you style emerald jewellery for a glamorous night out?

I absolutely love emerald jewellery against darker tones to make the gemstones pop! Emeralds always look fantastic paired with a little black dress.

What are the best ways to wear ruby jewellery for a casual day look?

Whether you’re wearing a necklace, ring or earrings, rubies will always look elegant with an oversized white shirt, turned up jeans and a simple ballet flat with an oversized bag.

Tell us about how you styled each look for the shoot?

Obviously, for this shoot we wanted the jewellery to stand out as much as possible, but if you pay attention to the cut of the clothing, that helps with complementing each piece. When wearing beautiful fine jewellery, it’s important to ensure that your look is in sync with your jewels. Some of the looks focus on v-neck cuts for longer necklaces and drop-down earrings. I think they look gorgeous with something that sits off the shoulder or has fine straps.

If you were to give one piece of advice on how to style coloured gemstones, what would it be?

I would recommend using neutral tones, like black, white or cream, to accentuate the beauty of the rubies. With emeralds, as mentioned earlier, I think they work beautifully against black, but to make a statement with your look, you can pair them with red as I have in the shoot. It really makes them pop!

How does styling coloured gemstone jewellery differ from styling diamond jewellery?

With gemstones, I think you need to pay a little more attention to the colour palette you’re going for with your outfit. There’s no need to overthink it; just be aware of what best accentuates the jewels. This way, the jewellery added to the look will never look like an afterthought: it should be a main feature!

How do you personally style jewellery?

I love layering with rings, necklaces and smaller earrings. If it’s something you haven’t tried before, you can play around with your own jewellery to test out what works for you when layering. Once you find the perfect combo, you will never look back.
