Mozambican President recognises MRM for integrity and transparency
On 25 August 2025, the President of the Republic of Mozambique, H.E. Daniel Francisco Chapo, visited the Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) stand at the 60th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM).
President Chapo highlighted MRM’s track record of promoting transparency and integrity in business.
“MRM is a company that works with transparency and pays taxes proactively,” said the Mozambican statesman.
The MRM team took the opportunity to invite the Head of State to be the guest of honour at the upcoming inauguration ceremony of its Second Processing Plant (PP2), which is expected to triple MRM’s ore processing capacity from 200 tonnes per hour to 600 tonnes per hour. Once in operation, PP2 is expected to produce a greater variety and quantity of rubies for auction, thereby increasing revenue and reinforcing MRM’s contribution to the national economy.
During the opening of FACIM, which culminates with Exporter’s Day, MRM was once again distinguished by the Mozambican government as the second largest exporter in the mining sector, this time for the 2024 financial year. MRM’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Raime Raimundo, thanked the government for the recognition and dedicated the award to the employees of Montepuez Ruby Mining.
“This award is dedicated to the company’s more than 1,400 highly valued employees,” said Raime Raimundo.
This is the third consecutive occasion that MRM has received this distinction in a public ceremony guided by the President of the Republic.
