Kagem Renews ISO Certifications and Secures New Cybersecurity Standard
Kagem has renewed three ISO certifications and earned a new one in information security, reaffirming its commitment to safety, quality, environmental stewardship and data protection.
On 31 October 2025, Kagem Mining renewed its ISO certifications in health, safety, environment and quality, and achieved a new certification in information security management, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and responsible mining.
Kagem successfully renewed three International Organisation for Standardisation certifications: ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), following the required three-year audit cycle.
Kagem also earned a new certification: ISO 27001:2022 in Information Security Management System, demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding information and cybersecurity.
Speaking at the 9th National Conference on Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment in Ndola, Kagem Board Chairman, Dr Sixtus Mulenga, said: “This recertification reflects our pursuit for excellence in vital areas of operations, and the responsible ethos of our workforce. Not only does Kagem subscribe to international standards and systems of excellence, but we also work closely with local authorities and governing bodies to ensure compliance with the safety standards in Zambia’s mining sector.”
Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at Kagem, Benedict Bukoka, highlighted the significance of the achievement, noting that these standards inform crucial safety and governance aspects of operations and reaffirm the mine’s commitment to protecting its people, environment and information assets.
These internationally recognised standards help ensure consistent safety, reliability and quality across global industries.
