Colour on the carpet: The 2021 Cannes Film Festival
Having been cancelled last year and taking place two months later than usual, the 74th Cannes Film Festival has been highly anticipated.
Whilst the audience wore masks, presenters, nominees and winners walked the red carpet and took to the stage without for a seemingly more ‘normal’ affair.
Well worth the wait, Cannes 2021 has proved to be a true celebration of colour with A-listers bedecked in coloured gems.
For the première of Benedetta, Virginie Efira, chose a yellow gold Cactus de Cartier necklace, complete with ruby flowers and emerald leaves, plus a matching bangle, and a gold cocktail ring.
Jessica Chastain was resplendent in a Chopard necklace set with more than 112 carats of oval-cut rubies and almost 14 carats of diamonds.
Helen Mirren looked to Dolce & Gabbana coupling diamonds and emeralds, while Ester Expósito turned to Bulgari for her exquisite pair of emerald and diamond fringed earrings.
More was certainly more for both Li Meng and Bella Hadid this Festival.
Li donned a spectacular high jewellery poncho necklace from Bulgari constructed in gold and set with colourful gemstone cabochons.
Bella, meanwhile, teamed a trompe l’œil lung necklace adorned with rhinestones with 18 karat rose gold Chopard earrings featuring 24.97 carats of rubies and diamonds and a matching ring.
Choosing a trifecta of coloured gems, Mélanie Laurent gave a powerful nod to the ‘Big Three’ opting for a Cartier confection – a dazzling pair of ‘tutti frutti’ earrings featuring sapphires, rubies, emeralds and diamonds in a platinum setting.
