Discover moreFounded by Chelsy Davy, AYA is a unique fine jewellery range of African-inspired designs that fuses ethically sourced gemstones from across the African continent into 18 karat gold designs.
“AYA was born out of my love for Africa, for its people and my fascination with its gemstones,” says Davy.
AYA’s first collection was the Zambezi Collection. Each piece in the collection represents a piece of Africa, both in its exquisite designs and unique names, and through the precious gemstones used.
AYA is passionate about Africa and its future; therefore, promoting the welfare of its people fundamentally underpins the ethos of the brand.
AYA is strongly committed to improving the quality and accessibility of schooling in the local communities surrounding the Gemfield mines, most notably the Kapila Community School, located in the Kafubu emerald mine area in Zambia. The school has 400 pupils, a community school with no government funding. Together, AYA and Gemfields built the classrooms that the school so badly needed, making a huge difference to the local community.
Recently, AYA has released distinctive pieces, such as the Mtondo Earrings, which use Gemfields rubies and emeralds. The earrings are named after the Mtondo Camp in Zambia, on the banks of the Zambezi. By combining exquisite gemstones responsibly sourced through Gemfields and a vision for unique designs, AYA is bringing both coloured gemstones and African-inspired design into the modern day and to the forefront of fashion.
